2. 2. The spatial structure of the genetic code
The idea of existence of the spatial
structure for the genetic code
appeared soon after
the establishment of assignments between
triplets of a code and amino acids encoded by them [10] and was first implemented in the
model [11].
However, neither this
model nor other models can not be considered successful. Only in the 90s of last
century this idea has received adequate embodiment [1-5].
The structure of the genetic code associated with the position of the triplets and their encoded
amino acids within the genetic code as a whole system is possible to subdivide into the structures of
doublet and triplet code. The
fact that the doublet code can be identified as one of the levels of code is
related to coding features and the degree of degeneracy of the genetic code.
Two-dimensional code model clearly represents these patterns - rhombic variant
of genetic dictionary. It is with this model, we begin our excursion into a kingdom of the structure of the genetic code (section 2.1.).
